Herbert Hooijkaas first to receive the CMI Award

At the 7th edition of the Symposium Medical Immunology in Rotterdam, professor of Medical Immunology Herbert Hooijkaas was the first to receive the CMI Award (CMI Prijs van Verdienste).
This award, initiated by the College of Medical Immunologists (CMI) in 2016, is presented to a CMI member for his/her exceptional contribution to the development and visibility of the laboratory specialism Medical Immunology. During his entire career as Medical Immunologist, Herbert Hooijkaas clearly provided such contribution. In addition, he has been instrumental to the organization of the CMI and the formulation of quality control within the laboratory specialism. The award was presented to him by the chair of the CMI board, professor of Medical Immunology Irma Joosten. At the 7th edition of the Symposium Medical Immunology, Herbert Hooijkaas also celebrated his retirement from the CMI. The CMI will miss Herbert Hooijkaas as an inspiring colleague and wishes him a very pleasant retirement.
