The Dutch Society for Immunology (NVVI) actively promotes and supports:

  • Excellence in immunological research, immunodiagnostic procedures and clinical immunological practice in the Netherlands

  • High quality of analyses of immunological parameters used in health care (for diagnostic purposes)

  • The societal position of the professional immunologist in all disciplines.

To achieve this, the NVVI organizes scientific meetings, maintains international contacts and has established a number of committees that regulate scientific, laboratory and clinical standards in immunology. The NVVI strives to provide input to national and international policies with the objective to strengthen the future of immunology in all disciplines.

Royal decoration for NVvI chairman  Jolanda de Vries!

Jolanda de Vries (Radboud University Nijmegen), chairman  of the NVvI, will receive the "royal decoration Knight

of the Order of the Netherlands Lion"

on Wednesday 28 April 2021.

This honor is due to her pioneering work in cellular cancer vaccines using dendritic cells. One of the successes that Jolanda has achieved is the preventive vaccination of healthy carriers of Lynch syndrome, who have a high risk of developing cancer at a young age. Another important result is the conditional admission to the basic health insurance package of treatment of skin cancer with dendritic cells from the blood. As a result, a randomized phase III study can be performed.

The board of the NVvI is very proud of our chairman.

Royal decoration for Prof. Dr. E.E.S. (Edward) Nieuwenhuis, pediatrician and immunologist

Professor Nieuwenhuis has received the Royal decoration of "Ridder in de orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw" as a token of appreciation for his groundbreaking research into intestinal disorders in children, his commitment to the Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology and the professionalization of pediatrics in general.

The association warmly congratulates its member with this wonderful award.
