NVVI Newsletter - September 2016      

Dear NVVI member

We hope that you all are in full swing after the Summer break, even although Summer has taken a delayed upswing.

In this newsletter you will find more inforIn this newsletter you will find more information on the combined BSI/NVVI meeting in December. Abstract submission is now closed and a total of more than 860! abstracts have been submitted. Make sure to register before early bird registration deadline. Of special interest is the reduced registration fee as a so-called “concessionary” of only £135,- for PhD students and technicians!

Investigators that completed their PhD thesis are invited to submit their thesis for the van Bekkum thesis award that will be handed out in Liverpool.

At the end of our newsletter there is information on recent meetings of interest to the membership. Please be aware that you will find an extensive list of these meetings on our website agenda. If you are involved in organizing a relevant meeting for the NVVI membership, please inform our secretary, email is below this newsletter.

Van Bekkum Thesis Award - deadline approaching

The Dutch Society for Immunology aims to increase the visibility of excellent young immunologists in the Netherlands and has for this reason initiated an annual competition to select the best thesis in immunology. The winner gets the opportunity to present her or his work during a 20 minutes plenary presentation at the NVVI/BSI congress 2016 in Liverpool and in addition will receive a reward of 1000 Euro.

The Van Bekkum Thesis award will be selected by the Thesis Award committee.

Candidates should have defended their thesis between July 1, 2015 and July 1, 2016.

General Assembly 2016 - election board member

This years General Assembly of the Dutch Society for Immunology will be held in Liverpool at the NVVI-BSI congress. The NVVI invites you to participate.

Date: Thursday December 8, 2016
Time: 12.45hr.
Location: ...will follow

Election Board member:
This year a new board member will be elected. Martin van Hagen will finish his second term as board member of the NVVI and will not be eligible for re-election.
The board proposes Paul van Daele (Erasmus MC) to fill this vacancy. Alternative candidates for the position of Martin van Hagen, can be proposed jointly by at least five society members by e-mail to the secretary of the society up till November 17th 2016.

The NVVI board is proposing Marieke van Ham (Sanquin), for an additional board position due to her role as president of the ECI 2018 in Amsterdam.
